Basic Class
Expectations:
Ø Always show respect for yourself, your classmates, your teachers and the space and
equipment being used.
Ø Be on time to class.
Ø Always come prepared, this includes dress down clothes, shoes and a proper attitude.
Ø Always use appropriate language and talk. No
put downs. No profanity.
Ø Always have a good attitude. Be willing
to try new things and work hard. Show good sportsmanship.
Participation:
Ø This class, and your grade, is based on your daily participation. This includes:
ü Daily warm ups: stretching, running, and other cardiorespiratory activities
ü Daily activity: skills and or game of the day
ü Fitness activities: yoga, Pilates, cardio work
Ø Students are required to participate in all activities every day.
Ø If unable to participate due to illness or injury a note of explanation is needed.
Ø If this condition is expected to last longer than three (3) days, a note from a physician
is required.
Lockers:
Ø Girls will be assigned a small blue P.E. locker that they will have for two (2) years.
Ø Boys may be bring their own paddle lock and may choose any small blue locker
to keep their P.E. clothes in. Due to the number of paddle locks and lockers available not all student will be required to
be assigned a designated lock and locker.
Ø Please keep your lock locked whenever you are not in class.
Ø Do not share your combination with any other student.
Ø P.E. lockers are for P.E. items only. Sports
lockers will be assigned for athletes participating in sports.
Ø Please be careful to keep valuables (money, wallets, ipods) locked up at all times.
Locker
Room Behavior:
Ø Students must be in the locker room before the final class bell rings.
Ø The locker room is not an area for horseplay or goofing around.
Ø You will have approximately five (5) minutes at the beginning of the period to change
into P.E. clothes and five (5) minutes at the end of the period to change back into school clothes.
Ø You must remain in the locker room until the final bell ending your class period.
Clothing:
Ø Each student will be required to wear the school required uniform for P.E. The uniform will consist of a white Firebird t-shirt, black shorts or gray sweat pants.
Ø Tennis shoes must be worn to class and must be laced and tied so they will not come
off when kicking, running or jumping.
Ø Dressing down for class will be part of your class grade.
Ø Please take clothes home each Friday for washing and bring them back for class on
Monday.
Ø Choosing not to dress down may affect your honor level.
Grading:
Ø Participation/Effort: 25% Students will actively
participate in all parts of class (warm up, skills, games, fitness).
Ø Fitness Improvement: 25% Students will work to improve their own individual fitness in flexibility, muscular
strength, muscular endurance and cardiorespiratory fitness. A base test will
be done along with tests throughout the trimester to study improvement.
Ø Preparedness/Attendance: 25% Students will dress down into the required PE uniform and appropriate shoes each
day of class. Students are also expected to be on time and in class each day.
Ø Miscellaneous Assignments:
25% Students will need to complete all health and PE assignments. Tests and quizzes will be given covering both health and PE topics as well as skills
learned in class. Students will keep a portfolio of work as part of this grade.
Absent
Make-Up:
Ý As Physical Education is a participation class, a student who is absent will receive
zero points for that day. Students may make up these missed points (participation/effort
and attendance/preparation) by completing an Absent Make-Up form and turning it in to their teacher.
Ý These may be done any time and must be turned in before the last day of the trimester.
