Ø If unable to participate due to illness or injury a note of explanation is needed.

Ø If this condition is expected to last longer than three (3) days, a note from a physician is required.

Lockers:

Ø Girls will be assigned a small blue P.E. locker that they will have for two (2) years.

Ø Boys may be bring their own paddle lock and may choose any small blue locker to keep their P.E. clothes in. Due to the number of paddle locks and lockers available not all student will be required to be assigned a designated lock and locker.

Ø Please keep your lock locked whenever you are not in class.

Ø Do not share your combination with any other student.

Ø P.E. lockers are for P.E. items only.  Sports lockers will be assigned for athletes participating in sports.

Ø Please be careful to keep valuables (money, wallets, ipods) locked up at all times.

Locker Room Behavior:

Ø Students must be in the locker room before the final class bell rings.

Ø The locker room is not an area for horseplay or goofing around.

Ø You will have approximately five (5) minutes at the beginning of the period to change into P.E. clothes and five (5) minutes at the end of the period to change back into school clothes.

Ø You must remain in the locker room until the final bell ending your class period.

Clothing:

Ø Each student will be required to wear the school required uniform for P.E.  The uniform will consist of a white Firebird t-shirt, black shorts or gray sweat pants.

Ø Tennis shoes must be worn to class and must be laced and tied so they will not come off when kicking, running or jumping.

Ø Dressing down for class will be part of your class grade.

Ø Please take clothes home each Friday for washing and bring them back for class on Monday.

Ø Choosing not to dress down may affect your honor level.

Grading:

Ø  Participation/Effort: 25%    Students will actively participate in all parts of class (warm up, skills, games, fitness).

Ø  Fitness Improvement: 25% Students will work to improve their own individual fitness in flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance and cardiorespiratory fitness.  A base test will be done along with tests throughout the trimester to study improvement.

Ø  Preparedness/Attendance: 25% Students will dress down into the required PE uniform and appropriate shoes each day of class.  Students are also expected to be on time and in class each day.

Ø  Miscellaneous Assignments: 25% Students will need to complete all health and PE assignments.  Tests and quizzes will be given covering both health and PE topics as well as skills learned in class.  Students will keep a portfolio of work as part of this grade.

Absent Make-Up:

Ý As Physical Education is a participation class, a student who is absent will receive zero points for that day.  Students may make up these missed points (participation/effort and attendance/preparation) by completing an Absent Make-Up form and turning it in to their teacher.

Ý These may be done any time and must be turned in before the last day of the trimester.

Ý Forms are available from your teacher or in each locker room.
